Spring Break 2018 Postlude

(by Liz Koch, who brought 4 students from the high school she teaches at in Colorado Springs on the recent Spring Break Florida outreach)

The girls were overwhelmed meeting 200 new faces at the start of Spring Break. As their comfort level grew and their walls came down, I saw a side of these girls I never knew was there. It was a  powerful opportunity for them to be heard. God was so faithful throughout the week as questions were asked and explored. Here's a few quotes from the girls:

"Towards the end of the week I finally had enough courage to tell my story and trust others. It felt great because I had all this pain bottled up and just telling it took this weight off my shoulders. It was like I had an anchor tied to me, and I was drowning - but now that anchor turned into wings and I am free. Finally, I just want to say thank you to all the people who made this trip possible for me."

"This spring break has been the time of my life: I was able to make new friends, have a good time, and learn about the man above all in one week."

"My favorite part of the trip was Solo time on the beach, where we all sat separated on the beach in silence for 30 minutes. I thought about so many things, and just realized what I have in life, and how blessed I am."

"The trip was amazing; it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I loved the people and all the events that we did."

God is so good, after many different conversations throughout the week with lots of different leaders, 2 of these girls said Yes to Jesus. I still can't believe that this experience was possible, and I can't thank you all enough for taking the risk, believing in and supporting us along the way. Can't wait for that bus load that we'll be taking next year!

* Liz said Yes to Jesus on a similar trip while she was a student in Chesterton Campus Life
